ODs love to talk. And they certainly love to talk about optometry. After all, it's what they do, and it's what they are. The Internet has several forums and e-mail lists that allow communication among ODs. While these are all good communication tools, e-mail or forum posts don't allow the true nuances, emotion, and passion of the spoken word to be heard. Emoticons can't make up for the inflections and color of the human voice. While these Internet vehicles allow an exchange of information, they do it at the cost of interpretation and timeliness.
